Hi, i’m Thalia
I am a mother to a bright, willful, joyfilled five year old who reflects back to me, every day, the edges and depths of my own becoming. She has reshaped my way of being, opening a wellspring of love I had only ever glimpsed before her arrival.
I am a wife to the gentlest of men, my best friend, partner, and the father of our wild-hearted child. For over a decade, we’ve walked side by side through countless seasons of growth. We now call the lush Cowichan Valley home, where we raise our daughter and connect deeply with this land and beautiful community.
I am a certified birth and postpartum doula, and a Reiki practitioner. My roots are in support work, spending over 13 years walking alongside individuals with disabilities as a behavioural interventionist and community support worker. That chapter taught me what it means to honour autonomy, to advocate fiercely, and to hold space with compassion. All of these lessons now live in my birth work.
Though I formally stepped into the world of birth work after the birth of my daughter, I know the calling began long before. The first birth I witnessed was that of my baby brother. In the photos, I’m three years old, wide-eyed and steady, full of reverence. The thread was already there, quiet, golden, unbroken.
Since becoming pregnant, I have been devoted to learning the mysteries of birth, its physiology, its power, its initiatory nature. I believe birth is a sacred rite of passage, one that begins long before contractions and continues well beyond the first cry. I trust in the innate wisdom of the body, and the ability to bring forth life in the way that is most true to them.
As your doula, I walk beside you, not leading, not following, but attuned to your rhythm. I will meet you where you are, holding space for your autonomy, your voice, and your strength. It is one of the greatest honours of my life to witness people at the threshold, raw, radiant, and rising.
